Spring decor

This weekend I cleaned house for all things winter. Packed and stored away all 'winter home decor' mostly candles in all shapes and sizes (husband and I are obssessed with candles) , christmas decor , heavy curtains , any accent which was dark and moody. With all the cleaning done, I am now all set to welcome spring and summer. I spent most of my sunday evening looking for some inspiration for spring decor got some brilliant ideas to share with you all.

My home style this spring / summer would be

1. Natural - Bring nature in. Lots of flowers and greenery, I am going to buy fresh flowers (in season in expensive variety) and all the more better have some colorful pots with flower plants.

It need not be flower always, any thing green and fresh looks good

Extra bonus, you get fresh herb for cooking inspirations.

2. Fresh smell - I know i mentioned that we stored away all the candles.  But i still have tons of small ones left outside  with very citrusy flowery notes and i am going to use it every where. And if you just have plain candle, here is a terrific idea to convert it into a scented one. All you need is lemon and rosemary !

3. Pastels : Turquoise, lemon, i am simply loving these color. Will be using them a lot a cushions and dinnerwares.

I am also thinking of painting some of my walls (right now its all white) and i am looking here for spring color trends

4. Lighten and Brighten : easy breezy drapes, cool toned accessories. Also clean spaces, i have removed lots of accessories and i don't intend to replace. I am loving the clean totally uncluttered look.

And as always there is an exception to the rule, if i somehow get my hands on these, i am definelty having this in my house this minute, even those its not pastle and it would mean adding new accessories :))

A simple Christmas DIY

Would you believe it , 2013 is coming to an end already and christmas and new year is just around the corner. To bring year to an end on a stylish note, i am sharing a beautiful DIY ideas for your home. Best part its simple and inexpensive - think recycled wrapping paper and recycled glass containers

Up front disclaimer - this  is not my creation , i clicked this during our stay at Intercontinental doha.

I reckon this can easily be made with some left over golden paper / wrapping paper , few fresh twigs and pine cones (spray painted golden), all this arranged neatly in a plain glass jar .

I am giving it a try this season as simple center piece on dining table , let me know how it turns out for you.

Breakfast at ...

Weekdays breakfast is usually a rushed affair for us trying to start the day on time. So this saturday i decided to keep it relaxed at the same time simple.

I wanted to set the table in balcony but the heat in bangalore these days is too stifling so chose my 'study' instead.

Simple table cloth, few glass dishes and some flower from the garden below and table was set by the window.

Food was kept simple, i didnt want to spend all morning preparing ..home made bread ( i cheated and used M&S premix), Fried eggs, roasted potatoes and for green sprouted moong tossed with some lemon, onion and tomatoes.

And small little touches like my absolute fav tea towel (used as napkin) below ..
And an amazing breakfast time ....so even though not at Tiffany's :) , it was fun !

Slow and steady ..fills a pot

There is an interesting article / challenge trending at blogher. Its about a weekly saving system that helps you  save $1378 by starting with $1 in first week and increasing it by another dollar every week.

Now this sounds really interesting and definitely  something i need to be doing. Planning to start with Rs. 100 and add another hundred every week. i guess the challenge would be slightly difficult in last 20 weeks, but just to think you would have Rs. 1,37,800 by the end of year sounds deliciously tempting ..I am giving it a go starting today.  Are you in ??
