Lunch in a bowl - Mushroom Sesame

Continuing our series of cooking a simple lunch for one, today i made mushroom sesame stir fry. You can totally substitute mushroom with boneless chicken strips  and its equally good (if not better !)

You need

Button mushroom - one small bowl, cut into 4
Sesame seed - 1 teaspoon - toasted on hot skillet for 30 seconds, so it turns brown.
Cooking oil (olive / sunflower/ groundnut) - 1 teaspoon
Sesame oil (optional)

For Marinade

Vinegar - 1 small teaspoon
Soya Sauce - 1 small teaspoon
Tabasco sauce - 1/2 teaspoon
Garlic - grated - 1/2 teaspoon
Honey - 1/2 teaspoon
Cornflour - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste

Mix together all the ingredients for marinade in a bowl and add chopped mushroom to it , leave it aside for 15-20 mins.

Alternatively you can mix all the marinade in a ziploc bag , add mushroom and leave it fridge. Take it out from refrigerator before cooking.

In a wok , heat oil, add the mushroom, give it quick stir on high heat for 3-4 minutes, turn heat to medium.

Add about 50 ml water (half cup), with the cornflour  in the marinade, this will give the dish a slightly thick sauce like consistency.

Once the mix comes to boil, Add toasted Sesame seed.

Add a small splash of sesame oil (about 1/2 teaspoon). Mix everything well.

Turn off the heat.

Serve with Rice

P.S.     Use Jasmine rice  instead of plain rice for enhanced flavor
P.P.S.  While toasting sesame , remove seeds immediately from hot surface once it  turns golden browns else it will burn quickly.
